Pregnancy Test (Yes or No)
The Pregnancy Test (Yes or No) is a blood test that detects the presence of hCG. This test can tell you if you are pregnant or not- “Yes” or “No” (positive or negative). This test cannot tell you how far along you are in the pregnancy; if you are interested in detecting pregnancy and also knowing how far along you are, check out the Pregnancy with Gestational Age (How Far Along) Test.
Human chorionic gonadotropin (hCG) is a hormone produced by the placenta during pregnancy. hCG may be detectable in blood or urine around 7-11 days after conception. It reaches peak levels between the 7th and 10th week of gestation, then declines throughout the rest of the pregnancy. hCG can also be produced in other conditions, such as hydatidiform mole, choriocarcinoma, testicular neoplasm, and more.
